Trigger Cut extract maximum verve from the original form of every rock 'n' roll band—the power trio lineup—and prove once again that more doesn't necessarily mean better. Unless, of course, everyone cranks the fuzzbox up to gale force. Because, obviously, noise has to be awesome.

All the more reason to appreciate that the three Ludolfs of noise groove on “A History Of Junk” never prioritize pure freakout over crisp songwriting. “Rat Nip,” the schoolyard chess-club anthem, “Crash Crew,” the closing anthem, “Cat Lazers,” the title track – all hits you'd happily hum to yourself at the bottle return machine or while bailing your roommate out of the police station. And, as befits a proper noise album, it comes with a healthy dose of annoyance. Turn it down, turn it up, but do something, damn it!
